Plan a club race

Training and races Updated July 2026

A club race is half logistics. Everyone knows the date; almost nobody knows where you are meeting, what time the bus goes, or who to ring when they are stuck in traffic on the morning. Putting a race in Konia is mostly about answering those three questions once, in the place people will look.

Create the race

Go to the Races tab and start a new one. Only the name is mandatory, so you can put a placeholder in the calendar today and fill in the logistics when you know them.

  1. Pick the race type and name it

Triathlon, Running, Cycling or Swimming, with your club's own sport preselected. Then the Race Name, which is the only required field. Use the official event name so people can search for it.

  2. Set the date and where it is

Add the Location, and a Maps URL if the venue is hard to find. If you add a maps link you have to name the location too, otherwise members get a pin with no label.

  3. Add the event website

The Website URL saves you being asked about start times, categories and entry fees. It is the single highest-value optional field on this form.

  4. Attach the details as a document

Race packs, start lists and course maps usually arrive as PDFs. Attach one here rather than mailing it round.

Trip details, the part people actually need

The Trip Details section is what turns a date into a plan.

  • Contact person. Type any name, or pick one of your club members. Picking a member is worth the extra tap: their name becomes tappable through to their profile, with their photo, so a stranger to the club knows who they are looking for at the meeting point.
  • Contact phone. Tappable to call or text straight from the race screen. On the morning of a race this is the field that earns its keep.
  • Meeting point. Pick one of your saved training places or type a new one, with its own maps link. "The car park" means nothing to somebody who has never been.
  • Departure. A date and time for when you actually leave, which is usually not the race start. Setting a time fills the departure date in from the race date if you have not set one.
  • Accommodation. Free text for the hotel, in case people want to book the same one.

Fill in the meeting point and departure even for a local race. They are the two things people message the group chat about, and the whole reason to have the race in the app is to stop that happening.

Signing up

Members tap Join race from the race screen. You can add a member yourself, and a parent can add a dependent, which matters for junior races where the child has no phone.

Once the date has passed the race shows as passed and sign-ups close.

Deleting a race also deletes every sign-up. If a race is cancelled by the organiser, consider leaving it in place with a note in the description instead, so the record of who was going is not lost.

After the race

Once the date passes, a Results section appears on the race, above the participants. Members add their own finish times and positions there, and the club gets a shared results board for the day. See logging a race result for what they do.

You can also enter or correct a result on any member's behalf, which is how the person who actually collected the times at the finish line gets them into the app.
